Set in Heyman’s native New Mexico, “Pendulum” stars Gordon-Levitt and Phoebe Dynevor as a married couple whose trip to a new-age retreat as a means for healing becomes much more than they bargained for.

Here’s an official synopsis for “Pendulum,” courtesy of Vertical Entertainment:

In Mark Heyman’s feature film directorial debut, married couple Patrick and Abigail journey to a new-age retreat in New Mexico, drawn by the possibility of healing after a traumatic event. Patrick is willing to do anything to help his wife, but becomes distrustful of the retreat’s enigmatic leader even as Abigail falls under her spell. As paranoia builds, the couple must determine if the group’s spiritual practices offer genuine healing – or mask a terrifying truth that threatens to consume them both.

Along with Gordon-Levitt and Dynevor, “Pendulum” also stars Jacki Weaver, Anna Deavere Smith, Jena Malone, and Norman Reedus.

Along with directing, Herman also writes the script for his feature directorial debut. He also produces the film with Darren Aronofsky, Jacob Jaffke, Élan Klein Jaffke, Dave Caplan, Ari Handel, Elizabeth Gesas, and Will Greenfield.

“Pendulum” hits theaters on January 1, 2027. Watch the trailer for the thriller below.
