Kevin Feige On Marvel vs. DC & Excitement For 'Justice League'

Next week, “Justice League” will come lumbering into cinemas, and once again social media will light up as fanboys on either side of the Marvel versus DC divide will start squabbling about the merits of their franchise. It’s become a tedious spectacle, to the point that Guardians Of The Galaxy” director James Gunn has spoken out and made it clear that he wants no part of it (don’t @ him). Now, Marvel godhead Kevin Feige is also taking a stand against the silly fight between fan camps.

Speaking with Crave, the executive and creative guru — who has long said superhero success from his rivals, creates a better playing field for everybody — slammed the feuding between nerd camps.

“I think it’s ridiculous. I think movies are awesome and people should go out and support awesome movies, and I go support those movies and I thought ‘Wonder Woman was awesome,” Feige said. “I can’t wait to see what Geoff Johns and Joss [Whedon] and the gang has done with ‘Justice League.’ I guess people like rivalries, I guess? I don’t know. But I’m seeing Geoff Johns in a couple weeks for dinner. We went to this [Richard] Donner event together. Dick’s ‘Superman‘ is still the best archetype of superhero films. So yeah, just go see cool movies. What are you fighting about?”

That’s a pretty simple, reasonable request. This sort of emotionally invested war between strangers on the internet about multi-million dollar films that they have absolutely no participation in is….weird.

So, yeah, just go see “Justice League,” share your opinion if you want, and then just get on with your day.
