‘Landman’ Trailer: Taylor Sheridan’s Big Oil Drama Returns For Season 2 November 16

“Landman” is Taylor Sheridan’s latest excavation of the American West — not the mythic frontier of cattle and horses, but the oilfields of modern Texas, where survival is measured in mineral rights and the people tough enough to defend them. For Sheridan, it’s another tale of the land shaping those who live on it, a contemporary saga of grit, greed, power and middle-management fixers who do what it takes to get ‘er done. Season 2 arrives November 16 on Paramount+, following a debut that drew 35 million global viewers and became the streamer’s most-watched original series ever, eclipsing even Sheridan’s other hits like “Yellowstone,” “1923,” “Tulsa King,” and “Special Ops: Lioness.”

In the new season, landman Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) is reeling from the death of his boss Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) and inherits control of M-Tex Oil. But power comes with peril: a Mexican cartel led by the cunning Gallino (Andy Garcia) is staking its claim. At the same time, a global energy giant looms, eager to strip the region of its resources. Tommy must navigate cartel violence, corporate pressure, and the fractures in his own family as the fight over oil escalates into a war for legacy.

The ensemble cast brings together Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chavez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, Demi Moore, Colm Feore, and Sam Elliott, joining Thornton and Garcia. The series is directed by Stephen Kay and written by Sheridan with Christian Wallace. Behind the scenes, Sheridan leads a sprawling team of executive producers, including David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ronald Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Dan Friedkin, Jason Hoch, Scott Brown, Megan Creydt, Peter Feldman, Friedman, Kay, and J.K. Nickell.

At its core, “Landman” continues Sheridan’s fascination with the people who endure on the margins of the American West — men and women forged by the land, whose survival depends on how much they can take and how much they can sacrifice. It’s a story of oil and empire, but also of families caught between loyalty and ambition, resilience and ruin.

“Landman” Season 2 premieres November 16 on Paramount+.
