Report: Louis C.K. Says #MeToo Controversy Cost Him "$35 Million In An Hour"

Louis C.K. has been making headlines for being one of the few alleged #MeToo predators that has been trying to make a comeback. After admitting to his past experiences that were detailed earlier this year, C.K. has kept out of the public eye, with his latest film being pulled completely from release. But now, he’s been making a comeback, showing up at his old comedy club stomping ground and attempting to bring humor to the situation. And his most recent joke is fairly startling.

According to a report from LaughSpin (partially backed up by The Wrap), Louis C.K. went on stage at the Comedy Cellar recently and shared an interesting tidbit.

Here’s what a report from an audience member said:

“Something shifted Wednesday night. ‘He was much more confident,’ says the source. Castillo says he opened with, ‘It’s been a weird year’ (understatement). He continued talking about how he’s been to ‘Hell and back’—joking that while he was in Hell he met Hitler. Multiple comedians hanging out that night say he seemed more authentic and real. From the source, his Wednesday set addressed getting booed in the streets and how everyone hates him. ‘I lost $35 million in an hour.’ This audience apparently loved it way more than the unrealistically guarded set just a few days prior—though the comics hanging out were laughing harder than the audience, says the source.”

Obviously, C.K. didn’t break out his banking information and a slideshow to detail where the $35 million figure comes from, but The Wrap confirmed that the number sounds legit. You can imagine the lost money stems from his feature film, “I Love You, Daddybeing pulled from release, combined with any income the comedian would have made from his annual comedy tours.

It’s unsure, due to the nature of the report, what C.K.’s tone was regarding the figure, whether he was joking and making light of the situation or being deadly serious and complaining. But it’s clear that C.K. is hoping that 2019 works out a little better for him than 2018 has, so far.
