Now, it does make sense that Warner Bros. would want everyone to know that Harley Quinn is the featured star of the upcoming “Birds of Prey” film. And since that title doesn’t really illuminate that fact, a change does seem inevitable. However, the new title that Margot Robbie and WB have revealed is…well, not great.
On Instagram, Margot Robbie released a photo of the script for “Birds of Prey.” However, written under the original title is a handwritten addition that reveals the full name of the upcoming superhero film — “Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).” Oof.

Now, before you get all upset saying that it’s just a joke title that Robbie posted on Instagram as a way of hyping up production on her film, unfortunately, you’re wrong. THR has confirmed with WB that the actual title to the film is “Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” or ‘BoPatEoOHQ’ for short (well, that’s my idea at least).
Obviously, this is a title that works on the humorous level of how Harley Quinn would probably change the title of the film to use the word “fantabulous” and use her name (as well as a bit of a nod to “Birdman“). However, for marketing purposes and general audience awareness, this is just not a great title. There are a million other ways you could have included the name Harley Quinn in the title. In fact, how about just dumping the “Birds of Prey” moniker anyway, since the line-up and story probably don’t resemble much in the way of the titular comic series.
Then again, this is the same studio that thought “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” was a good title for a superhero film. By that standard, we should be happy that “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” isn’t something worse. As hard as that is to imagine.
“Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
