Got a Tip?

MGM Eyes Possible ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ Sequel

nullThough the awesomely-titled “Hot Tub Time Machine” didn’t light the box office on fire — it premiered at the third spot and went on to earn $64 million worldwide — it has apparently done well enough on the home video market to entice MGM to start exploring the possibility of a sequel.

The original film followed Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry and John Cusack as a trio of aging bros with Clark Duke as Cusack’s nephew, when they discover the titular time machine and head back to the 80s. It was a poorly thrown together story with absurd laughs and while it was diverting enough, we weren’t wishing for a sequel. But the studio has taken the first steps, reaching out to Robinson, Corddry and Duke to reprise their roles with the original film’s director Steve Pink being courted to return. Cusack has apparently not been a part of the talks, so it's unclear if he'll be back. But given he's the biggest name of the trio, we'd wager a sequel is impossible without him — perhaps MGM is waiting for more pieces to be in place before bringing it to Cusack.

The biggest question surrounding the probable sequel is whether or not the film will head back to the time travel well, and if they do, where they will go next. What do you folks think? Should they go back in time or just stick to the present day? Should this be even made at all? [THR]
