Netflix Renews 'Black Mirror' For Season 5

It’s hard to believe that at one point, “Black Mirror” might have ended after only two seasons. Way back in 2013, after the second season finished its run on Britain’s Channel 4, there was no renewal set for a third season, or “series” if you’re from that side of the Atlantic. It wasn’t until Netflix showed interest, and subsequently bought the rights to the series, that “Black Mirror” was brought back for a third and fourth season.

Well, with the incredible popularity of the series, it was a no-brainer that Netflix would bring it back for a fifth. In a short teaser, if you want to call it that, Netflix has announced that a fifth season of the anthology series is coming.

Who will be attached to star in an episode? What surprise directors will they announce? When will we see it? Those big questions are left without answers. But hey, this is “Black Mirror” we’re talking about! We all know that the upcoming season is bound to feature A-list talent in front and behind the camera.

As far as the release date, a little deduction can help. Considering the last season was released two months ago, the eventual release date for season five is still pretty far in the future. However, since Netflix has taken over, they’ve released seasons each year, in October and December respectively. This means that by the end of 2018, we should all get our “Black Mirror” fix.

Until then, we have our own reality to deal with. And some days, it feels like we are living in a “Black Mirror” episode, as it is.
