New James Bond Movie Officially Announced For 2019

The timing for this bit of news is certainly….interesting. Today, the review embargo lifted on Steven Soderbergh‘s “Logan Lucky,” which finds Daniel Craig giving a comic performance unlike anything we’ve seen from the actor. It’s a big step away from the brooding visage we’re used to seeing from the actor in the James Bond films, but perhaps he’s gearing up to give it one more go.

Today it has been officially announced that the next James Bond movie will open on November 8, 2019 in the United States, and as the pattern has followed for the past few pictures, earlier in the U.K. and other overseas territories.

Curiously missing from the announcement is whether or not Craig would be reprising his role as 007. The actor was famously grumpy about his whole Bond experience during the press rounds for “Spectre,” saying he’d “rather break this glass and slash my wrists” than jump right back into making another franchise entry. However, in the past weeks, rumors have circulated that Craig had been “secured” to play Bond again, but, then again, it’s from the British tabloids, so who knows.

The movie will open in the U.S. against an as yet determined Disney live action fairy tale movie, so there will be some stiff competition. That said, it’s two different audiences being served, both pictures should be fine.
