Nic Cage Teams With Oscar-Winning 'Green Book' Writer For New Action-Thriller

What’s an Oscar-winning screenwriter to do after landing the coveted trophy? You could write a new feature, similar in tone to the winning film, perhaps exploring another story that could land you even more accolades. Or, if you’re Nick Vallelonga, co-writer of “Green Book,” you just decide to write a script for an action film starring Nicolas Cage. Clearly, the right choice is Nic Cage. It’s always Cage.

According to Deadline, Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the film “10 Double Zero,” which is co-written by recent Oscar winner Vallelonga and Paul Sloan. “10 Double Zero” will feature Cage as a police officer that takes it upon himself to target cop killers. Honestly, the story is fairly inconsequential because when you’re watching a Nic Cage film, the last thing on your mind is the intricacies of the plot.

As mentioned, Vallelonga recently won his trophy thanks to his script for “Green Book.” Of course, he’s also famous for the controversy surrounding his recent film, as well as some racist, conspiracy theory-laden tweets. So, why not tackle a Nicolas Cage action film next?

“We are thrilled to introduce ‘10 Double Zero’ to audiences around the globe for the first time in Cannes,” said producer Jeff Bowler. “With Nick’s amazing script and his multiple-award-winning track record, combined with the legendary talent of Nicolas Cage in the starring role, this commercially driven thriller is certain to entertain audiences all over the world, and we’ve been gratified to have already enjoyed very strong sales here in Cannes.”

“10 Double Zero” is expected to begin production in July, but a release date has yet to be determined.
