How well do we know the people in our lives, especially those we call family? The dramatic series “Pieces of Her” presents a woman struggling with her mother’s secrets. Based on the book by Karin Slaughter, the Netflix project hails from Minkie Spiro. The director has established herself as a prominent name in TV and streaming thanks to both American and British series. Her credits include episodes of “Call the Midwife,” “Barry,” “Better Call Saul,” “Jessica Jones,” and more recently “The Plot Against America.” Charlotte Stoudt is the showrunner on the series.

The project brings together a gifted cast. Toni Collette stars as a mother at the center of an unraveling mystery; a moment that seems to be random actually propels her daughter into a search for the truth. Bella Heathcote portrays Andy, the daughter set on a path of discovery after that one horrific event. Her journey encounters friends, strangers, and enemies alike. It’s up to Andy to determine where each character lies in her quest. Jessica Barden, Jacob Scipio, Joe Dempsie, Aaron Jeffery, Omari Hardwick, Gil Birmingham, David Wenham, Calum Worthy, Nicholas Burton, and Terry O’Quinn also star.
