Toni Collette To Star In Netflix Drama Series 'Pieces Of Her'

A lot of headlines have been made with the relationship between Adam Sandler and Netflix. But on a much smaller scale, we should also talk about the streaming service’s relationship with one of the best actresses working today, Toni Collette. Sure, let’s not forget that the best role of her career, in “Hereditary,” was not a Netflix production, but over the past several years, Collette has shown up in a ton of streaming content, including “Unbelievable,” “Wanderlust,” “Velvet Buzzsaw,” and the upcoming “I’m Thinking of Ending Things.” And now, she’s extending that relationship even further with “Pieces of Her.”

According to Deadline, Collette has agreed to star in the upcoming Netflix series “Pieces of Her.” The series, based on the best-selling novel by author Karin Slaughter, stars Collette as Laura, the mother of a 30-year-old daughter, Andy, who finds herself drawn on a cross-country journey to discover the dark secrets of her family after a violent act throws their lives into chaos.

“Pieces of Her” is written by Charlotte Stoudt, who will also serve as showrunner. The series is directed by Minkie Spiro, who is likely one of the most accomplished helmers that you’re likely not familiar with. In addition to directing all eight episodes of this upcoming Netflix series, Spiro is also the director of episodes of series such as the upcoming HBO drama “The Plot Against America,” “Kidding,” “Downton Abbey,” “The Deuce,” “Fosse/Verdon,” “Dead to Me,” “Barry,” and “Better Call Saul.” That’s one hell of a filmography, don’t you think?
