One of the legends behind the band and a new movement in music entirely, Queen‘s lead guitarist Brian May speaks to the press about director Bryan Singer. While attending the 2019 BAFTAs ceremony in support of the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” May spoke to the press on the red carpet about Singer’s alleged sexual misconduct.

“It’s nothing to do with us. He hasn’t been the director for a long time,” May told the BBC, in reference to Singer being let go as director near the end of filming. “He was sacked for very good reason… not by us, by Fox so it’s a very arms-length thing for us. The only reason he’s on the movie is his guild forced Fox to do this… technically, really, he’s not the director of the movie. That’s just life.” Guilty or not, it doesn’t look like Singer is winning any popularity contests anytime soon.

May went on to express his support of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” in which he was portrayed by actor Gwilym Lee. “Everybody who had something to do with the movie should be very proud,” May said.

It was originally up for the Outstanding British Film BAFTA, but because of the allegations against Singer the nomination was suspended. That didn’t stop Brian May attending in support.
