As seen in the trailer for the film, “The Road Not Taken” follows the relationship between a father and his daughter as she desperately searches for answers about what makes her parent seem mentally ill. However, what we find out is that her father is finding himself lost in the visions and memories of alternate lives that he could have lived if he chose a different path.

The film stars Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Branka Katic, Milena Tscharntke, Laura Linney, and Salma Hayek. The film is written and directed by Sally Potter, who is one of the more acclaimed filmmakers working today. Her films have yet to receive the widespread mainstream success that they probably deserve, but readers will likely remember her as the filmmaker behind projects such as “Orlando,” “The Tango Lesson,” “The Man Who Cried,” and her most recent film, “The Party.”
