Sandra Bullock To Produce (And Possibly Star In) New Netflix Comic Book Adaptation From 'LEGO Batman' Director

Sandra Bullock experienced unprecedented levels of meme with her latest film, “Bird Box.” Apparently, she enjoyed the experience of working with Netflix so much, that she’s coming back for another round. This time, she’s doing a comic book adaptation with the director of “The LEGO Batman Movie.”

Deadline reports that Bullock has signed on to produce and possibly star in the new film “Reborn.” The sci-fi/fantasy film follows the story of an 80-year-old woman that dies in a Manhattan hospital, only to be reborn in the afterlife in the prime of her life. However, this isn’t the Heaven you’re expecting. Living in Adystria, the woman is now part of a fantasy world filled with monsters and dragons…and her friends and family that have died previously. Everyone is accounted for except one person, her already-deceased husband, who is missing. She then goes on a quest to find her missing husband.

So, basically, it’s kind of like “What Dreams May Come” with a healthy dose of “Lord of the Rings” thrown in for good measure. Sounds…awesome?

“Reborn” is being helmed by director Chris McKay, who is coming off the box office success and acclaim of his animated ‘LEGO Batman’ film. He was previously attached to the DC superhero film “Nightwing,” but that project seems to be stalled…forever?

While the report can’t confirm that Bullock will indeed star in the film, Deadline reports that sources say the actress will lead the cast. At this point, why wouldn’t she? After the massive success of “Bird Box,” Netflix would probably back up the dump truck of money on her doorstep to get her to star in this film.

“Reborn” is part of the massive deal that was struck between the streaming service and Mark Millar’s Millarworld comic book imprint. Millar is responsible for creating “Wanted,” “Kick-Ass,” and “Kingsman,” as well as writing the Marvel comic book story “Civil War,” which was adapted into the massive MCU film of the same name.
