Scoot McNairy Joins ‘The Rover’ With Robert Pattinson & 'Frank' With Michael Fassbender

Scoot McNairySince finally starting to gain a bit of wider attention in 2010’s “Monsters,” Scoot McNairy has had a fantastic 2012, with roles in “Killing Them Softly” and “Argo.” He’s got a lot of promising projects lined up, too. There’s Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave,” Gus Van Sant’s “Promised Land,” and “Non-Stop” alongside Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore, all coming up for the actor.

Well, McNairy has been changing agents recently, and during the reporting of that in the trades a couple of other interesting tidbits have come out about McNairy’s other future projects. First up is the news that he’ll join Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce in David Michôd’s exciting follow-up to “Animal Kingdom,” “The Rover.” Described as an "existential western," the near-future set tale that follows a man who goes on a journey across the Australian outback to find his stolen car, which contains something invaluable to him.

An arguably even more exciting project, or more intriguing at least, is the Jon Ronson– and Peter Straughan-penned “Frank” starring Michael Fassbender. McNairy will join up with that cast too (which also boasts rising star Domhnall Gleeson), which will tell the story of the young Jon Ronson joining an eccentric pop band led by the mysterious Frank. Both of these projects seem like great ones for McNairy to be getting involved with, and they’ll probably be pleased to be hiring an actor of his calibre too. [Deadline]
