The show follows Annie, played by “Saturday Night Live” star Aidy Bryant. It is based on writer Lindy West’s memoir, “Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman.”  Bryant plays a version of West named Annie. She is a self-proclaimed fat woman who is looking to change her life, without changing her body. The first season follows Annie as she attempts to live life in her own way and not by society’s standards.

According to the official Hulu synopsis, this season picks up soon after Annie quits her job. The new batch of episodes will also focus on Annie juggling her continuing journey of self-acceptance with reaching a difficult crossroads in her relationship with her boyfriend.

Bryant continues to be a triple threat this season, as she stars in, executive produces and co-writes “Shrill.” Lorne Michaels, Bryant’s boss at her day job at ‘SNL,’ and Elizabeth Banks are also among the show’s executive producers. Showrunner Ali Rushfield also returns for Season 2.

Take a look at the “Shrill” Season 2 synopsis below:

Annie starts the season on a high. She has faced her demons head on—her mom, her boss and her troll—and she’s feeling pretty good. She also has her boyfriend Ryan by her side. But the high doesn’t last long. Annie realizes that quitting her job was a hasty move. This season Annie is no longer the doormat she once was, but it’s not as easy as she thought to get what she always imagined she wanted.

The second season of Shrill drops on Hulu on January 24. Take a look at the new trailer below.
