'Snowpiercer' Season 2 Trailer: Sean Bean Joins The Cast & Adds Even More Drama To The Post-Apocalypse

Though the TNT adaptation of “Snowpiercer” pales in comparison to the feature film from filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, there’s no denying the drama series was a hit for the cable network. In fact, the series stands as the #1 new cable series of 2020 in the ratings, so there are plenty of folks excited about seeing where the story continues in Season 2.

And judging by the trailer for Season 2 of “Snowpiercer,” the show continues to take place aboard a massive train that travels around the desolate frozen hellscape and features a major class war that is happening amongst its citizens. Well, that’s not completely true. You see, there’s also a second train heading to the Snowpiercer that carries with it Mr. Wilford, the big bad that is behind all the shenanigans. The second season begins a new rivalry between Mr. Wilford and Layton that threatens to split the population in two, as folks decide whether to follow Layton or Mr. Wilford, with his new train and new technology.

Season 2 of “Snowpiercer” premieres on TNT on January 25. You can watch the new trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

At the end of season one, the survivors of the revolution are trying to pick up the pieces and maintain a fragile peace amongst the now merged classes with Layton (Daveed Diggs) emerging as the train’s leader. Discovering Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is alive and headed their way on a rival train, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) risks going outside to prevent him from invading Snowpiercer. While she’s out there, it’s revealed that Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), Melanie’s daughter, who she thought had died, is alive and has become Wilford’s dedicated protegee. In season two, an entirely new power struggle emerges, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr. Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing. While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.
