“Rick & Morty” is a cultural phenomenon. The animated series isn’t just a hit on TV, but it’s also seen all over merchandise that you can find in just about any store nowadays, as well as countless memes and conversations. And it appears that “Solar Opposites” is looking to become the next “Rick & Morty,” not just because of its content but also due to the new series’ creator, Justin Roiland.
As seen in the new trailer for “Solar Opposites,” the series follows the story of a new family that has moved into a suburb and is dealing with adapting to a new community, which includes locals not exactly loving their new neighbors. Oh yeah, and the new family is from another planet and they crash-landed on the “crap-hole” known as Earth, and they’re not too happy about it.
From there, “Solar Opposites” teases the inclusion of just about everything you can imagine, including man caves, recreational drugs, bullying, animal rights, zombie teenagers, magicians, and black holes, among many, many other things. Yes, you can tell that Justin Roiland’s fingerprints are all over this thing.
The series is the brainchild of Roiland, who is the co-creator of the hit animated series, “Rick & Morty.” And if you’re a fan of “Rick & Morty,” there’s a lot that you’re going to love in “Solar Opposites.” The series clearly borrows a similar art style, as well as the same tone and absurdist comedy that you’ve come to expect from Roiland.
“Solar Opposites” arrives on May 8 on Hulu.
Here’s the synopsis:
From Justin Roiland, the co-creator of Rick and Morty, comes a series about a family of aliens trying to fit in on this human-infested crap-hole of a planet called Earth.
