'Stranger Things' Season 3 Will Premiere Next Summer And "Will Be Worth The Wait"

Fans all around the world are eagerly awaiting the next season of the Netflix phenomenon “Stranger Things.” While the streaming service has released a couple of teasers hinting that the series might be coming back soon, it appears that we still have a pretty long wait until we get our hands on Season 3. But according to Netflix, you should be okay with that.

Speaking at the recent TCA conference, Netflix executive Cindy Holland shared some insight into the latest season of the series, as well as dropping our first idea on when we can expect to see the upcoming season. And unfortunately, it won’t be until next summer.

“It’s a handcrafted show,” Holland said (via EW). “The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

“It’s a really exciting season, just takes a little more time,” she continued.

So, while fans may be itching to see the further adventures of Eleven and Co. this fall, it appears we have almost a full year before “Stranger Things” will return. And honestly, we should have seen it coming. In an interview we did with the Duffer Brothers before the release of last year’s Season 2, the creators flat out said they had no interest in sticking to the yearly cycle for television shows.

“So I think people want us to keep doing more, but you know for us, it’s all about quality control. Like people want, television particularly, they want it on this annual cycle. Movie sequels never come out on an annual cycle, unless they’re shooting back to back,” said Matt Duffer.

It’s clear that the Duffer Brothers had no interest in rushing a subpar product out, just to make it a yearly event. Instead, they want to take their time. And since they definitely didn’t shoot any seasons back-to-back, fans will just have to wait a little longer.

So, what do “Stranger Things” fans have to look forward to this fall? Well, there won’t be any adventures from Hawkins, Indiana, but there will be something “chilling” premiering. At TCA, Netflix also announced that “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” the upcoming horror remake of the popular teen series “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” will premiere this October, just in time for Halloween.

Sure, it’s no “Stranger Things,” but ‘Sabrina’ might just scratch that teenage horror itch that you’ll have with the lack of Eleven this Halloween.
