Surprise Drake Doremus Film 'Newness' Starring Nicholas Hoult & Donald Trump Doc Headed To 2017 Sundance Film Festival

As we draw closer to the Sundance Film Festival, it was expected that organizers still had one or two more movies up their sleeves to add to the lineup. And indeed, they’ve made everyone scramble to redraw their schedules with two big new titles coming to Park City.

First up is “Newness,” a surprise new film from Drake Doremus (“Like Crazy,” “Equals“) that was apparently shooting this fall, and got turned around crazy quick. The ensemble cast for the movie is intriguing, featuring Nicholas Hoult, Laia Costa, Danny Huston, Courtney Eaton, Matthew Gray Gubler, and The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. As for the synopsis, it sounds very Doremus-ian:

In contemporary Los Angeles, two millennials navigating a social media–driven hookup culture begin a relationship that pushes both emotional and physical boundaries.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump will have more to tweet about with the documentary, “TRUMPED: Inside The Greatest Political Upset of All Time” from directors Banks Tarver, Ted Bourne, and Mary Robertson, which follows “The Apprentice” from the campaign trailer all the way to election night. Here’s the official synopsis:

In a behind-the-scenes look at the biggest political upset in recent history, Mark Halperin, John Heilemann and Mark McKinnon offer unprecedented access and never-before-seen footage of candidate Trump, from the primaries through the debates to the dawning realization that the controversial businessman will become the 45th President of the United States.

The doc will premiere at Sundance, and hit Showtime on February 3rd.
