'Terminator 6' To Face Off Directly Against 'Charlie's Angels' Reboot As Both Films Move To November 2019

Can Kristen Stewart kick Arnold Schwarzenegger’s butt? We’re going to find out in 2019. Kind of.

Variety is reporting that Kristen Stewart’s upcoming action film “Charlie’s Angels” is set to square off with the untitled ‘Terminator 6,’ as both films move into the recently-vacated November 1, 2019 release date. With the sudden move of “Wonder Woman 1984” (which itself was motivated by Mark Wahlberg’sSix Billion Dollar Man” film being removed from the schedule) to June 5, 2020, that left the prime November 2019 date wide open. And it looks like Sony and Paramount were quick to pounce.

Obviously, it’s not unusual for two major big-budget films to release in the same weekend. Hell, in the summer movie season, it’s almost a weekly occurrence. But rarely does it happen outside of the summer months and almost never do two films with such similar audiences compete against each other. But, as of now, that’s exactly what will happen in 2019, as the long-awaited ‘Terminator’ reboot-quel (said to be a sequel to ‘T2’ that ignores everything after) faces off against the reboot “Charlie’s Angels,” which stars the aforementioned Stweart, alongside Naomi Scott and Ella Balinski.

This isn’t the first time that ‘Terminator 6’ has seen its release date reshuffled. Earlier this year, the sci-fi/action film saw its original release date of July 26, 2019 change to November 22, 2019. As for the Elizabeth Banks-helmed “Charlie’s Angels,” Sony had the date of September 27, 2019 set aside for the female-led actioner, but just couldn’t pass up a prime November release.

Even though these release date changes were both just announced, it would be very odd for those dates to stick. As mentioned, Sony and Paramount have to know the two films will cannibalize each other, so now it’s only a matter of time to see who blinks first. That being said, we thought the same thing about the upcoming date of December 21, which features the release of both “Aquaman” and “Bumblebee,” and as we now know, it looks like those two films are staying strong and will compete directly against each other.

So, come November 1, 2019, we may know the answer to the age-old question of Stewart vs. Schwarzenegger. Place your bets!
