'The Unforgivable' First Look: Sandra Bullock Stars In Netflix Prison Drama Coming In November

Give big stars what they want, and big stars will come to your streaming service (oh, and a nice paycheck doesn’t hurt either). The last time Netflix lured Sandra Bullock to its service, the result was the smash hit, “Bird Box,” directed by Susanne Bier. It was one of Netflix’s biggest hits ever at the time, according to the streamer. Well, Bullock is back, executive producing again on a new film, a prison drama about forgiveness and redemption called “The Unforgivable.” Bullock stars as a woman released from a prison into a society that won’t forgive her past and she seeks redemption by searching for the sister she left behind.

Directed by Nora Fingscheidt (“System Crasher“), the cast is pretty stacked, including Bullock, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Richard Thomas, Linda Emond, Aisling Franciosi, Rob Morgan, Emma Nelson, Will Pullen, Thomas Guiry, and Viola Davis. Davis being listed last presumably means she has a smaller part, otherwise, a heavyweight like that would get bigger billing.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime, Ruth Slater (Bullock) re-enters a society that refuses to forgive her past. Facing severe judgment from the place she once called home, her only hope for redemption is finding the estranged younger sister she was forced to leave behind.
