Got a Tip?

To The Left, To The Left: Beyonce Exits Clint Eastwood’s ‘A Star Is Born’

nullWell, it's back to the starting blocks—again—for Warner Bros. forever developing "A Star Is Born" as Beyonce has left the building.

It was back at the beginning of 2011 that the remake got new life at the studio when Clint Eastwood and Beyonce boarded as director and star, but things quickly stalled out. A number of prospective male leads were rumored/wanted including Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Tom Cruise and most recently Bradley Cooper. Production also hit a roadblock when Beyonce was pregnant with Blue Ivy, and Eastwood went off to shoot "Trouble With The Curve."

So where does the project stand now? Well, WB is now going to be looking to lock down a male lead first, though Eastwood has already expressed interest in casting jazz musician Esperanza Spaulding in the role vacated by Beyonce. Meanwhile, Cooper is potentially still in the mix, and Johnny Depp has apparently been approached, but no formal offers have been made. Essentially, it's all back to square one.

So, now the ball is in your court: who would you cast in the story a wide-eyed girl, dreaming of stardom who finds a helping hand from a washed out, alcoholic older leading man? Let us know below. [Variety]
