Here’s a brief synopsis for “Train Dreams,” courtesy of Netflix:
Based on Denis Johnson’s beloved novella, Train Dreams is the moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century.
Along with Edgerton and Jones, “Train Dreams” also stars Nathaniel Arcand, Clifton Collins Jr., John Diehl, and Paul Schneider. Kerry Condon and William H. Macy also star, with narration by Will Patton.
Bentley directs an adapted script by him & Greg Kwedar. Producers on the film include Marissa McMahon, Teddy Schwarzman, William Janowitz, Ashley Schlaifer, and Michael Heimler. Executive producers on the film include Edgerton, Scott Hinkley, Kwedar, and John Friedberg.
The drama had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it was one of the fest’s best-reviewed films. The Playlist’s review awarded it an A-, and wrote, “Bentley’s modest, moving epic of the common man is a thing of rare beauty.”
“Train Dreams” will have its international premiere at this year’s TIFF. The film then hits theaters on November 7 before premiering on Netflix on November 21. Watch a teaser for the film below.
