Vanessa Hudgens Apologizes For "Insensitive" Coronavirus Comments Saying People Dying Was "Inevitable"

If you were making your way through Twitter yesterday and wondering why the term “She’s 31” was trending, boy, you were in for a surprise. The term “She’s 31” refers to the age of Vanessa Hudgens and is a response to a controversy that caught fire on social media due to the actress’ comments about the recent coronavirus pandemic. Let’s just say people were shocked to find out that Hudgens was indeed a grown adult in her 30s and not some idiot teenager.

Everything started to go downhill for Hudgens yesterday when she posted a video talking about the long-term effects of COVID-19 and how these regulations are affecting the whole world in an effort to limit the spread of the pandemic might last all the way into July. To that, Hudgens called it “bullshit” and went on a bit of a rant about coronavirus.

In the video, Hudgens said, “It’s a virus. I get it, I respect it. But at the same time, like, even if everybody gets it, like yeah, people are gonna die, which is terrible, but like, inevitable?”

She ended her statement by admitting that maybe she shouldn’t have been talking about the issue at that moment. But by that point, it was entirely too late and folks started to spread her words around social media, discussing how selfish and hurtful it was to just be okay with the fact that so many people will likely die, especially in the context of being upset that your life is being interrupted for a few months.

From there, folks started to defend Hudgens for being a “young woman” that makes mistakes. And that’s where the Twitter trend “She’s 31” comes in, as everyone laughed at that defense considering the actress is indeed a full-grown adult that should know better.

As you might expect, the actress quickly tried to do damage control with a series of apologies. Her first apology was another video where she claimed her words were “taken out of context.” When that apology didn’t satisfy most people, she released a more thoughtful statement.

Hudgens apologized and said, “I realize my words were insensitive and not at all appropriate for the situation our country and the world are in right now.”
