Watch: 2 New Clips From Sundance & Cannes Thriller ‘We Are What We Are’

nullIn spite of carrying the stigma of being an American remake of a foreign film, director Jim Mickle’s “We Are What We Are” received some positive buzz when it debuted at Sundance earlier this year. Since then, we haven’t seen very much of the film, which has been rather disappointing. However, now that it’s about to make its European debut at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, we finally have two new clips to share.

In the clips below, you’ll meet the Parker family, a rather old fashion group of people with some very strange customs. When tragedy strikes the family, daughters Iris and Rose are forced to assume the responsibility of putting food on the table. However, the Parkers don’t have a typical diet and what they crave can’t be found in a grocery store. As a storm threatens to consume their small town, their family secret is at risk of being exposed to the world. The first clip features an unsettling family dinner that builds tension around a seemingly mundane bowl of food. The second clip goes a long way to portray the relationship between the Parker sisters, who are played by Ambyr Childers and Julia Garner.

No release date is available yet, but Entertainment One will be distributing the film stateside.

Update: Clips removed by request of the filmmakers.
