Watch: Get Scared All Over Again With New Trailer For 'Insidious: Chapter 2'

Insidious: Chapter 2 Rose Byrne Patrick Wilson Barbara HersheyWhen “Insidious” landed two years ago, who would’ve thought the cheapie horror (literally, it cost $1.5 million) would go on to be an audience and box office sensation, pulling in a staggering $97 million worldwide. Remember, this was not based on a preexisting property, and didn’t feature any A-list stars. That is one profitable meatball. And well, it was only inevitable for this thing to get franchised, and thus, now we have “Insidious: Chapter 2,” which brings back all of the key cast members for some more surreal scares.

James Wan is back in the director’s chair (one of two horror movies he’s dropping this year, the other being “The Conjuring,” before he directs “Fast & Furious 7“) for the story that catches up with Lamberts as they uncover more spooky secrets about the spirit world. As always, the question is whether or not a sequel was even needed, but we’ll leave you to tell us if this looks like a cash-in or something that promises to open up the concept a little more. Either way, Wan is promising a twist on the original concept.

“’Insidious 2′ deals a little bit with elements of time traveling,” he told ScreenRant, adding: “Whereas the first movie has a twist on the classic haunted house genre, the second one is a slightly different movie, and so it has a twist on a different sub-genre. It’s more in the vein of like a domestic thriller, but with a pervasive supernatural undertone, which is kind of what ‘The Shining‘ is in some ways.”

“Insidious: Chapter 2” will send shivers up your spine Friday, September 13th (SCARY!). Watch the trailer below.
