Sorry about the headline, it was just too easy. But that being said, the first trailer for David O. Russell’s “The Fighter” certainly impresses and promises to be a get-out-of-your-seat-and-cheer crowd pleaser.
Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo and Amy Adams star in the true story of boxer ‘Irish’ Mickey Ward (Wahlberg) and his half-brother Dickie Ecklund (Bale). The film pretty much feels like a cross between “Boogie Nights” and “Rocky”; a kid trying to prove himself in an activity that will force him to make some painful sacrifices. It looks great, if a little pedestrian for the usually singular David O. Russell, but we’re excited nonetheless.
