Jonathan Nolan’s 'Westworld' Season 2 Spoiler Threat Ends In A Rick Roll

No one likes spoilers. Well, except for those people that need to know everything about a show before they watch it, or those sadistic people that love the look on their friends’ faces when they spoil something in their favorite show or movie. For those that love spoilers, the creators of “Westworld” have something for you.

Knowing that fan theories could end up being spoilers, the creators decided to jump ahead of the fandom. They went ahead and released the breakdown of season 2 for people who just need to know everything. Why would they do such a thing? Clearly, it’s to get ahead of the game, and allow the fandom to police itself.

The creators of the popular HBO series, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, went on Reddit to explain their predicament and possible solution:

“We thought about this long and hard, and came to a difficult (and potentially highly controversial) decision. If you guys agree, we’re going to post a video that lays out the plot (and twists and turns) of season 2. Everything. The whole sordid thing. Up front. That way the members of the community here who want the season spoiled for them can watch ahead, and then protect the rest of the community, and help to distinguish between what’s ‘theory’ and what’s spoiler.”

True to their word, the creators of “Westworld” did release a video, and it’s 25-minutes, but it’s not what you think. It starts as a spoiler video might, but then quickly turns into a very elaborate “Rick Roll” with star Evan Rachel Wood singing the infamous song from the set. The rest of the time is padded with music and video of a cute little dog, we assume is called Bento, based on the ending.
