Netflix‘s original content just keeps coming. And the streaming giant isn’t stopping anytime soon. The service just announced a new original film with one of the biggest names in comedy anchoring the project. Will Ferrell is slated to star in the Netflix film “Eurovision,” a comedy he will co-write with Andrew Steele (“Saturday Night Live,” “The Spoils of Babylon“).

According to Deadline, the film will focus on the long-running TV music competition show, “The Eurovision Song Contest.” The program began in 1956 when only seven Western European nations participated. Then this past season, a whopping 43 countries competed for the top prize, with Netta from Israel winning the top prize. But if you’re unfamiliar with the global show, you may recognize the names of some of its famous winners. Pop group ABBA won for their country Sweden in 1974. And Céline Dion won in 1988 for Switzerland.

Ferrell isn’t the first comedian to move to the world of streaming. Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and Kevin James have all found success with projects fostered by Netflix. Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum (“The House,” “Sleeping With Other People“) will produce for Gary Sanchez Productions. The production company, founded by Adam McKay (“The Big Short,” “Ant-Man“) and Ferrell, recently produced the Netflix original “Ibiza.” For “Eurovision,” McKay will serve executive producer. Well, we’ve heard Ferrell sing in films including “Step Brothers,” where his singing voice was called “a combination of Fergie and Jesus.” Yes, it’s that good.
Will the comedian break out his pipes again? We’ll have to wait and see. Netflix has yet to announce a release date for “Eurovision.”
