First known as "Bop Decameron" before switching over to "Nero Fiddled" last fall, the latest effort from Woody Allen has now settled on its final title.
Sony Pictures Classics has announed that the film will now be called "To Rome With Love." The name was selected as an homage to the eternal city of Rome, where the film was shot will be set. Initally set to be the international only title, the name will now be used in all territories. The film’s former title, "Nero Fiddled," comes from the incident in which the Roman Emperor Nero was infamously known to have "fiddled while Rome burned," in the blaze he himself was accused of starting. While a common expression here, it was not a familiar overseas and many international territories preferred a more globally understood name.
Written and directed by Woody Allen, "To Rome With Love" is a story about a number of people in Italy — some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors — and the romances and adventures and predicaments they get into. The film stars Allen, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penélope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page. It will hit theaters on June 22nd.
