Zack Snyder Says He Won't Use Any Of Joss Whedon's 'Justice League' Footage; Would "Destroy The Movie Before Using A Single Frame He Didn't Photograph"

Don’t expect to see much of Joss Whedon‘s “Justice League” footage in the new Snyder Cut, now known as “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” Though it shouldn’t come as a surprise, Zack Snyder himself confirmed he will absolutely not use any footage not shot by him. Indeed, Snyder went as far as saying he’d rather “destroy the movie” before using someone else’s footage.

Snyder didn’t hold much back when talking about the Snyder Cut of “Justice League” during his spotlight panel at Justice Con on Saturday. After sharing the first official clip of his cut of the film, Snyder was asked about whether any footage from Joss Whedon’s cut would make its way to the Snyder Cut. His response was very much unfiltered.

“There will be no chance on Earth that I would use a shot that was made prior or after I left the movie,” Snyder said. “I would destroy the movie, I would set it on fire, before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph. That is a fucking hard fact. I literally would blow that fucking thing up.”

On the one hand, it’s hard not to sympathize with Snyder’s disregard for changes made to his movie after he departed the project, especially since he never fully left the project, as the existence of Snyder Cut proves.

Of course, the question of whether it was Snyder’s decision to leave the project or whether it was a mandate from the studio came up during the panel. Snyder revealed that he made the decision to leave on his own, but that the decision to hire his replacement director was made by a committee.
