Ben Affleck Says Batman Finds "Hope" Again In 'Justice League'

Earlier this year, DC Films honcho Geoff Johns declared that “heart, humor, and heroics” are the elements that are needed for the future of the franchise. You’re probably going to hear those three words a lot from DC Films players, as the everyone is eagerly pivoting the cinematic universe away from the dark and dour tone established by Zack Snyder in “Man Of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.” And even Ben Affleck is parroting the company line.

Even though the actor is widely expected to be bailing once his “Justice League” duties are done, he’s still (contractually) stumping for the picture, and it sounds like Bruce Wayne is in a better place in the upcoming movie.

“In ‘Batman v Superman,’ he was at the end of his rope. But in ‘Justice League’ he’s finding hope again. He has to open up and play well with others. He knows he needs them,” Affleck told US Weekly.

“He’s sort of the ultimate loner, but he’s really trying to make it work and develop a good relationship with all of them. He might be a mentor to The Flash,” he added.

So it sounds like Batman is learning to play nice with others, and perhaps has a reason to feel less bummed out all the time with an eager to please Flash zipping around.

We’ll see Batman smile more when “Justice League” opens on November 17th.
