Is it hard to believe that the “Ice Age” franchise is nearly 25 years old? A little, yes, but 20th Century Studios‘ animated film franchise has proven to be quite the juggernaut, with longevity only beaten by Pixar‘s “Toy Story” franchise. No surprise, then, that a sixth “Ice Age” movie looms on the theatrical horizon, this one subtitled “Boiling Point.” It hits theaters early next year.
There’s no official synopsis or logline yet for “Ice Age: Boiling Point,” but the title and new teaser suggest the obvious: the glacial landscape of the popular animated film series is about to thaw. But that was already the set-up of “Ice Age: The Meltdown,” so a warming atmosphere must not be the only danger Manny, Diego, Sid, Buck, and Ellie face in this new adventure. And it’s not, because this global warming is due to a volcanic eruption, that introduces long-lost dinosaurs into the mix.
Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Simon Pegg, and Queen Latifah all return to voice their respective character in “Ice Age: Boiling Point.” Other voice vast includes Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Adam Devine, Sean William Scott, Wanda Sykes, Nick Offerman, and more.
John Donkin directs “Ice Age: Boiling Point,” from a script by Michael Wilson, Michael Berg, and Yoni Brenner. Lori Forte returns to produce the sequel.
“Ice Age: Boiling Point” hits theaters on February 5, 2027. Watch the teaser for the animated movie below.
