Martin Lawrence Doesn't Think 'Bad Boys For Life' Will Happen

For years, Sony has been trying to crack the nut on “Bad Boys 3.” The math was pretty simple — add up Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as wise-cracking cops, and you’ll probably have another hit. However, getting a script, and aligning schedules, and just getting everyone on board proved difficult. However, in recent years, things looked promising, with the studio throwing some release dates on the calendar, and even talking about a potential “Bad Boys 4.” Well, at least one of the film’s co-stars isn’t holding his breath for this to happen.

Speaking with EW, Lawrence revealed that he’s not sitting by the phone for “Bad Boys 3” aka “Bad Boys For Life,” and it sounds like unless he’s on set and making the movie, it’s not going to be real.

“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out,” he said. “Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

Indeed, Smith has Disney‘s “Aladdin” on deck, while “Bad Boys For Life” doesn’t even have a director at the moment (and if one does sign on, I’d presume there’d be another rewrite of the script that was recently tackled by Joe Carnahan, who has also flirted with helming the picture). So really, Lawrence is stating the obvious to some degree, and this has been the status for this long developing project for a while now. So until we know more, we’re going to consider this one dead.
