'Under The Skin' Composer Mica Levi Scoring Pablo Larrain's 'Jackie' Starring Natalie Portman

It’s hard to think of a film score debut in the past few years more electrifying, singular and flat out fantastic than Mica Levi‘s work on “Under The Skin.” Jonathan Glazer‘s film itself defies easy description, which surely would’ve presented a challenge to anyone taking on the score, but surely it was a higher mountain to climb for someone delivering their first film score. But Levi, whose day job is playing in Micachu & The Shapes, went above and beyond, creating an aural accompaniment to the movie as unique as the film itself. And so that’s what makes this next bit of news particularly exciting.

Levi will be scoring Pablo Larrain‘s upcoming “Jackie.” Starring Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, and John Hurt, the movie tracks the assassination of JFK, and the aftermath, from the perspective of the First Lady herself. And knowing that Levi is scoring the movie, it suggests that “Jackie” is even more intriguing than the premise suggests, and don’t forget, Darren Aronofsky is also producing this one as well.

“Jackie” will be screening at Venice and TIFF, but until then, check out Levi’s great “Under The Skin” score below. [Stereogum]
