Filmmaker JT Mollner was recently assigned alongside Glen Powell to develop a “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series for A24 (with Curry Barker of “Obsession” overseeing new feature film), but before that comes together he’s directing a creature feature called “Skeletons” with Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (“Room,” “Captain Marvel”) to lead it and there has been an announcement concerning other cast members, which sees Mollner reunite with his two “Strange Darling” actors.
That casting update hailing from Deadline sees actors such as veteran John Goodman (“10 Cloverfield Lane,” “Kong: Skull Island,” “The Big Lebowski”), Kyle Gallner (“Carolina Caroline,” “Jennifer’s Body”), Willa Fitzgerald (“Reacher”), Ione Skye (“Say Anything,” “Anaconda”), and Daithí Ó Haragáin (“Tresspasses”) joining the growing lineup led by Larson.

A brief logline mentioned in the report:
“Modern take on creature horror movies told from the perspective of a young boy who slowly begins to discover his beloved parents are hiding a disturbing secret about his mother’s true nature.”
The new genre project at Sony Pictures (after the studio picked it up at the European Film Market) has the backing of producer J.J. Abrams and his banner Bad Robot, which had Brian Duffield (“Whalefall”) pen the first iteration of the screenplay based on a short story by Phillip Fracassi, with rewrites/polishes by Mollner. Duffield has been rumored to be writing an “Alien” universe script and more recently officially teamed up with Zach Cregger (“Weapons,” “Resident Evil”) for another creature feature with WB’s “Siren Head.”
Drew Simon, Abrams, Jon Cohen, and Jack Heller are producing with Assemble’s Caitlin de Lisser-Ellen, Duffield, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Larson, and Fracassi exec producing on “Skeletons.” Infrared is also going to be financing the horror flick. Goodman’s next big role will be Alejandro G. Iñárritu‘s “Digger,” which has Tom Cruise toplining it.
