Sylvester Stallone Teases 'Creed 2' That Connects To 'Rocky IV'

It didn’t take long after the release of “Creed” for sequel talk to start stirring. The “Rocky” spinoff directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan was a huge crowd-pleaser and box office hit, while still maintaining a connection to the mainline series thanks to Sylvester Stallone taking on a mentor role to the young Adonis Creed. Among the ideas batted around for a follow-up was a prequel reuniting Rocky Balboa and Carl Weathers‘ Apollo Creed (who died in “Rocky IV“), but that was squashed by producer Irwin Winkler, who confirmed that any sequel would focus on Adonis. Still, that doesn’t mean a connection to “Rocky IV” won’t be happening.

Stallone is spending his holiday using Photoshop and hanging out on Instagram, as he has teased a “Creed” sequel that would involve Adonis facing off against Drago, or someone like him. In case you forgot, Dolph Lundgren‘s Drago killed Adonis’ father Apollo Creed in the ring, so maybe there will be some payback coming. But we really hope this isn’t going to be a movie about Adonis facing Drago’s son, because that’s dull world building, and a fairly uninspired idea for a sequel.
