Morgan Spector Officially Playing Robert Langdon In Netflix Series ‘The Secret Of Secrets’

A new Dan Brown/Robert Langdon project is finally coming together, and it’s a Netflix series called “The Secret of Secrets.” The streaming service has confirmed to us that they’ve selected a main actor to play Langdon, taking over the part from Tom Hanks in a string of popular feature films.

That name is actor Morgan Spector, who is likely best known for his television work on HBO shows such as “The Gilded Age” and “The Plot Against America.” Most recently, he worked with the top-dog streaming service on the series “Black Rabbit,” which starred Jason Bateman and Jude Law.

“Morgan is a truly wonderful actor whose work is always filled with intelligence, thoughtfulness and humanity. He’s the perfect fit for Robert Langdon — a brilliant academic whose curiosity, intelligence and intellect are the tools of his trade,” showrunner and executive producer Carlton Cuse (“Jack Ryan”) said of the casting in an official statement.

An official logline for the show based on the Brown novel published back in 2025, as provided by Netflix:

In Dan Brown’s thrilling novel, symbologist Robert Langdon races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist and her groundbreaking manuscript whose discoveries have the power to forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. The series adaptation (currently untitled) will blend futuristic science with mystical lore, delivering on the heart-pounding suspense and international intrigue that has made the Langdon stories a global phenomenon.

If you’re not already aware, “Langdon is a Harvard professor and world-renowned symbologist whose eidetic memory and puzzle-solving abilities help him unravel mysteries at the intersection of science and spirituality.” Hanks previously played Langdon in a trilogy of theatrical films, including “The Da Vinci Code,” “Angels & Demons,” and “Inferno.”

Cuse, Brown, Emma Forman for Genre-Arts, and Zoe Robyn head up the team of executive producers on the streaming show.

Interestingly, Deadline had previously reported that Spector’s wife, Rebecca Hall (“Onslaught”), was being eyed as the female lead of the series. Although her name doesn’t appear in today’s announcement for the hiring of Spector, there seems to be a good likelihood that Hall could end up landing the part.
