Okay, this isn’t exactly a shock. Reported back in 2013, we knew a Boba Fett movie was in the works, but the question was when. Well, now we know. It’s going to be in 2018.
The Wrap reports that the “Star Wars” spinoff originally slated for Josh Trank, before he was reportedly fired from the movie, will tell Boba Fett’s origin story. Sigh. Here’s the thing, the one key element about Boba Fett in the original trilogy was his mysteriousness, but, of course, George Lucas kind of crushed that in the prequels. A spinoff filling in even more backstory will make the deadly, helmeted bounty hunter, just another character instead of something a bit more special.
Last summer, it was rumored that Lawrence Kasdan was penning the Boba Fett movie, but that is not confirmed in the report at The Wrap.
