Watch: 3 New Clips From Jason Reitman & Diablo Cody's 'Young Adult'

nullDespite whatever anti-"Juno" sentiments have cropped up over the last few years, most of us here at The Playlist are still pretty excited about the latest Diablo Cody penned Jason Reitman directed film, "Young Adult." The dark comedy stars Charlize Theron as Mavis Gary, "the girl you hated in high school," and has been picking up solid reviews after a series of secret pop-up screenings across the country. Our reviewer managed to catch one and called it "unflinchingly funny." From the draft of the script we read last year, it's not going to be easy material for mainstream audiences to swallow, with Cody herself saying it had "elements of humor, but it's pretty serious and fucked up."

The New York Times called Theron's character in the film one of the more unlikable protagonists to come along in years. “Am I crazy for making this movie?," she asked herself in said NYTimes profile. "I’m not saying I didn’t think this was risky material, but I’m very grateful for the opportunity.”

The marketing department over at Paramount has been doing an ace job so far in selling the picture releasing a fantastic teaser poster and trailer that doesn't seem to sugarcoat just how unsympathetic Theron's character is in the film. Well the studio has released a few short clips, which are just slightly extended moments from that trailer, but are very funny nonetheless. The clips, via Apple, Moviefone and Perez Hilton respectively, are embedded below.

“Young Adult” hits theaters in limited release on December 9th and wide expansion begins on December 16.
