Got a Tip?

Watch: Benedict Cumberbatch & Claire Foy In Trailer For British Drama ‘Wreckers’

nullIs there an unlikelier star to have emerged in the last year than Benedict Cumberbatch? The gangly British actor, who broke through to film as the rapist in "Atonement," isn't your picture of an average leading man, but thanks to his lead in the BBC's "Sherlock," and an Oscar-tipped supporting performance in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," not to mention a fervent group of fans (we swear we get more pro-Cumberbatch comments and tweets than for anyone not involved in the "Twilight" franchise), he's creeping towards the A-list.

He's got some high-profile projects on the way, including Steven Spielberg's "War Horse," HBO miniseries "Parade's End," and a mo-cap turn as villainous dragon Smaug in "The Hobbit," but he'll next be seen on screen in a tiny British indie, D.R. Hood's debut feature "Wreckers." Cumberbatch stars alongside fellow rising star Claire Foy (TV's "Little Dorrit," "Season of the Witch") as a young married couple, David and Dawn, whose lives are turned upside down when David's younger brother Nick (Shaun Evans, "Boy A") returns from the army.

The film bowed at the BFI London Film Festival last month to fairly decent reviews, and it'll hit some UK theaters on December 16th, bowing simultaneously on the excellent Curzon On-Demand service, before a DVD release in February. No word on a U.S. release date yet, but we're sure Cumberbatch's growing stardom will help it cross the Atlantic at some point. Watch the trailer below.
