‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ Leads SAG Award Nominees

The long road to the Oscars is drawing closer to its destination, and it moves a few miles up the map today with the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations.

“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” led the way, with the film earning four nods, including Best Female Actor (Frances McDormand), Best Supporting Male Actor (Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell) and Outstanding Performance By A Cast. It’s a bit of surprise, and one even more notable in the context that Steven Spielberg‘s “The Post” — featuring all always dead-certs Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep — got shut out. So too did Daniel Day-Lewis‘ final performance in “Phantom Thread.” The award for Random Nomination goes to Robert De Niro for his turn in “The Wizard Of Lies,” that HBO movie you forgot existed.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards will be hosted by Kristen Bell, and airs on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 21, 2018.
