MUBI To Release ‘Suspiria’ Remake In Cinemas Across The UK In November

It feels like it’s been forever in the making, but Luca Guadagnino’s “Suspiria” is on the verge of premiering at the upcoming Venice Film Festival. And in lieu of the film’s premiere, we’re starting to get word on when and who will be distributing the film outside of the US. Obviously, since Amazon Studios co-financed the picture, the tech company will handle the domestic rights to the film. However, overseas, they’re handing the film off to other companies. And now, at least for the UK, we know which company was lucky enough to secure the rights.

Streaming service MUBI has landed the UK distribution rights to the upcoming highly-anticipated horror remake. According to ScreenDaily, MUBI will release the film in 100-plus locations starting November 16. The streaming service has been getting into the theatrical distribution game recently with films like “Touch Me Not” and the Cannes breakout Un Certain Regard winner “Border.” But clearly, “Suspiria” is a massive coup for the company.

For those not aware, “Suspiria” is the remake of the classic Dario Argento film of the same name. “Call Me By Your Name” filmmaker Guadagnino has directed the film, which has an all-star cast that includes Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, and Chloë Grace Moretz. The film follows a young dancer (Johnson) joining a prestigious troupe, but once she joins, she becomes aware that there’s something far more sinister going on in the group than just contemporary dance.

“Suspiria” is expected to potentially be a big awards contender this fall, after it premieres at Venice and Toronto. It’ll be released in the US on November 2, and as mentioned above, the UK on November 16.
