As we recently reported, Josh Brolin is a busy guy. Now that he’s done fighting the Avengers, the actor has a slew of projects on the horizon, including a new Amazon series titled “Outer Range.” However, it appears that his schedule is just too full, which means Brolin has to make a cut. And according to a new report, the actor has decided to depart the new Steven Soderbergh film, “Kill Switch.”
Even though the loss of Brolin is never a good thing (the man is great in just about everything), Collider is reporting that Soderbergh is in talks with Jon Hamm to take over the role in the thriller. “Kill Switch,” which also stars Sebastian Stan and Don Cheadle, tells the story of a group of criminals in the 1950s that attempt a home invasion that goes completely wrong, leading them to suspect that somebody double-crossed them. In the film, Hamm would portray one of the police officers hot on the trail of the criminals.
“Kill Switch” is written by Ed Solomon. The writer recently worked with Soderbergh on the HBO series “Mosaic.” Believe it or not, the duo is also working on the new “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” with Solomon writing the script and Soderbergh producing the sequel.
In addition to Hamm, the report claims that Cedric the Entertainer is also in talks to join the upcoming film. “Kill Switch” is expected to begin production this summer, and if we know Soderbergh, you can expect the first cut of the film to be done by Labor Day. (The man works incredibly fast.) Realistically, “Kill Switch” will likely not see the light of day until 2021.
