‘David Makes Man’ Trailer: Coming Of Age Series Arrives On HBO Max From Co-Writer Of ‘Moonlight’

Unfortunately, when it comes to the sheer number of scripted series on TV, there is no way to avoid the eventual drama that falls through the cracks. That appears to be the case with “David Makes Man,” a drama series that has been released for almost a full year but didn’t necessarily make many waves when it premiered. Thankfully, the show is getting a new marketing push for its debut on HBO Max.

Debuting last summer on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN channel, “David Makes Man” earned acclaim amid mild buzz, which is a shame, especially considering the talent behind the series. The coming-of-age drama about a 14-year-old prodigy that grew up in the projects and has to make pivotal decisions about his future hails from one of the writers behind “Moonlight.”

As mentioned, the series is created by Tarell Alvin McCraney, who is probably best known for being the co-writer of the Oscar-winning feature, “Moonlight.” The new series stars Akili McDowell, Alana Arenas, Phylicia Rashad, and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre.

“David Makes Man” will be streaming on HBO Max on July 16.
