‘Dreams’: Jessica Chastain Has Already Filmed A Secret Movie With ‘Memory’ Filmmaker Michel Franco

After earning rave reviews after its recent Venice premiere, “Memory” (read our review here) has become one of the most buzzed-about films of the festival season. And it made people anxious to see whether or not Jessica Chastain would reteam with director Michel Franco in the future. Well, not only will they collaborate on a new film, but they already filmed it, and it’s called “Dreams.”

According to a report from THR, Jessica Chastain and Michel Franco went ahead and filmed a brand-new feature, “Dreams,” in secret before the world premiere of “Memory.” Joining Chastain in the film are Isaac Hernandez and Rupert Friend. The film is said to follow the story of an illicit love affair between a woman who works at an art foundation and a ballet dancer. The film is said to have been filmed over the summer, earning one of the interim SAG agreements allowing for independent productions.

As mentioned, this is all great news because Chastain and Franco collaborated on “Memory,” which also stars Peter Sarsgaard and tells the story of a unique love between a troubled woman and a man with early-onset dementia. The film earned a ridiculous 8-minute standing ovation at Venice, and Sarsgaard took home the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor. Needless to say, “Memory” has become one of the most anticipated films coming out of Venice.

Obviously, it’s too soon to know anything about the expected release date for “Dreams.” Not only does it not have any distribution, as of now, but there are also the dual WGA and SAG strikes, which is creating an issue for studios. But at least we have a new Franco/Chastain film to get excited about.
