Got a Tip?

Noah Baumbach’s New Film Coming To Netflix & Is Described As A “Coming-Of-Age Story About Adults”

After the monster success of “Barbie,” you have to assume that both Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are going to be able to do whatever they want next. Well, for Gerwig, we already know what’s next—she’s doing a series of films for Netflix based on the “Chronicles of Narnia” books. And for Baumbach, well, he’s also going to Netflix.

In a recent Variety article about the film division of Netflix, executive Scott Stuber teased a number of things the streaming service has coming up. Yes, they mentioned the ‘Narnia’ stuff from Gerwig, but he also dropped a bit of a tease about Baumbach. Apparently, the next, untitled film written and directed by Noah Baumbach is coming to Netflix.

Not much is known about the film, other than it’s being described in the piece as “a funny and emotional coming-of-age story about adults.” So yeah, it sounds like a Noah Baumbach film. Late last year, there were rumors that the new film would co-star Adam Sandler and Brad Pitt. Though, it’s unclear if that’s still the case. If that did happen, however, that would make excitement for the film skyrocket.

Of course, this isn’t new to find Baumbach working with Netflix. His previous film, 2022’s “White Noise,” was released by the streaming giant. And his two films before that, the award-winning “Marriage Story” and the 2017 film, “The Meyerowitz Stories,” were also both Netflix films. So, more than anything, it just shows how deep the commitment between Netflix and Baumbach truly is.

That said, we have no idea when the film will eventually find its way to the streamer. With the just-wrapped WGA strike and the ongoing SAG strike, everything seems to be at a standstill. But when business does resume, we at least have some Baumbach goodness to look forward to.
