Set in the immediate aftermath of World War II, “Nuremberg” follows a U.S. Army psychiatrist, Rami Malek, as he’s tasked with assessing the sanity of captured Nazi leaders—most notably Reichsmarschall Herman Göring, played by Russell Crowe. Their exchanges form the psychological spine of the film: a chilling interrogation of power, denial, and human conscience. Meanwhile, the Allied prosecution, led by Chief Prosecutor Robert H. Written and directed by James Vanderbilt, the filmmaker behind “Truth,” and screenwriter of “Zodiac” and “The Amazing Spider-Man,” the film is adapted from Jack El-Hai’s nonfiction book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist.” With a sweeping 148-minute runtime, “Nuremberg” assembles an impressive ensemble including Leo Woodall, Richard E. Grant, John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, and Wrenn Schmidt. Produced by Richard Saperstein, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and Walden Media’s Frank Smith, Benjamin Tappan, and Cherilyn Hawrysh, along with Istvan Major of Filmsquad and George Freeman, the film promises a morally charged drama where history’s darkest truths meet the limits of empathy.
As the trailer makes clear, Vanderbilt’s film isn’t just another courtroom drama—it’s a moral reckoning set against the birth of modern justice. With its powerhouse performances and unnerving psychological undercurrents, “Nuremberg” looks positioned to stir conversation well beyond awards season. The film opens exclusively in theaters on November 7, 2025.
