Rachel McAdams finally has some co-stars on Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s AI thriller over at Netflix.
Deadline reports that Jeff Daniels, Joel Edgerton, Caleb McLaughlin, and Nnamadi Asomugha will join McAdams on the still-untitled project. Plot details remain scarce, but shooting on the film begins this summer, with Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman producing via T-Street, along with Gordon-Levitt and Kieran Fitzgerald.
No one knows what Gordon-Levitt has in mind for this thriller, but it’s an intriguing project given the actor’s outspoken criticisms of the emergent technology. He co-writes the script with Fitzgerald, with Natasha Lyonne getting a story credit alongside the pair. It’s safe to expect this one will hit Netflix sometime next year. Also of note: Anne Hathaway was originally cast in the lead role back in late 2024, but then McAdams replaced her last October, the same time Netflix snatched the project up.
Gordon-Levitt’s thriller marks a reunion of sort for Daniels and Edgerton with Netflix; Daniels starred in the streamer’s limited series “A Man In Full” last year, while Edgerton played the lead in “Train Dreams,” which Netflix picked up following its buzzy Sundance 2025 world premiere. As for Asomugha, he starred in Netflix’s “The Good Nurse” in 2022 opposite Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne. And, of course, Netflix subscribers will know McLaughlin for his role of Lucas Sinclair on “Stranger Things.”
Stay tuned for more details on Gordon-Levitt’s AI thriller as they arrive. As noted earlier, production begins this summer.
